The Port hit 4 against Team Solent

Newport made the short distance traveling away to Team Solent this evening (20th).

Team Solent who have seen their form both in the league and cup improve immensely over the past few weeks have been sunk this evening by an outstanding performance by The Port.

Picking up 7 points from 9 in the past 3 games reflects Newport’s recent performance and quality of football they are producing.

Newport took an early lead. On 14 mins Scott Sampson returning to the squad after Saturday’s game opened the scoring with a header, his 3rd goal with a header in as many games.

Charlie Urry then saw the back of the net on 28 mins with his second consecutive goal putting Newport 2 up.

The Port went into the half time break with another 2:0 comfortable lead as they done so on Saturday’s game at Petersfield Town.

Newport continued with their quality early into the second half. Josh Younie with his 3rd goal in two games struck home for The Port making it 3 on 49 mins.

It was going to be a long night for Team Solent when Liam Triggs punished them again scoring his first goal on his return to the club to make it 4 on 56 mins.

There was no way back for Team Solent and the game had been buried by an outstanding Newport side.

The victory and 3 points moves Newport up to 20th in the Sydenhams Wessex Football League Premier Division.

The whole squad under the leadership of new managers Mike Kelly and Andrew Rimmer are full of confidence following their recent performances.

Newport will next face 21st place Amesbury Town away in the league on Saturday 25th November for a 3pm kick off.
