Newport travelled to Whitchurch United on a wet and wild Saturday and came away with all three points to continue their league winning run.
New signing Jared Cousins started up front alongside Joe Craig.
Newport kicked down the Whitchurch slope and dominated the first half. The Port gained a great start when on 7 minutes Jared Cousins outpaced his marker and pulled the ball back for Liam Triggs to fire home.
Newport continued to break through the Whitchurch defence playing good passing football and should have finished the half by at least 3 goals to the good, but a combination of good saves by home keeper Cotton and a lack of composure on our part kept the score down to 1-0.
Joe Craig picked up a yellow card on 20 minutes.
On 35 minutes Gary Streeter went down to smother a shot and in the process pulled a chest muscle leaving him in great discomfort for the remainder of the half.

Streeter was unable to come out for the second half so Lewis Wright volunteered to go in goal. 16 year old Reece Wren came on as the replacement in midfield.
Whitchurch kicking down the slope had more posession in the second half but rarely troubled the Newport goal. Lewis Wright dealt with things comfortably and was only called into serious action once to tip a goalbound shot on to the crossbar.
On 70 minutes Jared Cousins picked up an injury and was replaced by Jayden Yates.
Louie Fleming had a great chance to put the game beyond reach when he raced away, rounded the keeper but with the goal at his mercy the ball bobbled and his shot went over the bar.
Neo Lamb picked up a yellow card for a strong challenge.
