Darren Powell was given the captains armband today (3rd Dec) in Newport’s away game to Brockenhurst. This appearance makes it 500 for Darren as the club and team honour his dedication and commitment to Newport (IW) FC.
Darren has been an integral part in the development of Newport’s first team over many years and has led the team to success during his playing career at the club. Darren now joins a select few legends that have made 500+ appearances for Newport.
The club’s Chairman Stuart Ross said “I am delighted for Darren to have made his 500th appearance for the club today and to have had the honour to lead the team out as we took on Brockenhurst. This just demonstrates how much commitment and heart he has for Newport (IW) FC. Darren is an inspiration to all our up and coming young players at the club. Many congratulations to him and I look forward to meeting up with Darren next week at home to Sholing”.
Newport (IW) FC are wishing for all our supporters across the Island and further a field to join us at our home game next Saturday (10th Dec) at St Georges Park where the club will look to honour and congratulate Darren Powell for his 500th appearance for Newport.
