Defeat for 1st team but Reserves, A Team and U12’s victorious

The Ports first team travelled to Horndean FC today (Sat 18th March) suffering a heavy defeat losing 3:0.

Spike Pierce, Mark Taylor, Darren Powell, Keelan Sainsbury and Liam Newbold were all missing and didn’t travel to Horndean.

Newport are placed 12th in the Premier Division with 8 games remaining in the league this season.

Newport Reserves were at St Georges Park today for a home fixture against United Services Portsmouth in the Wyvern League.

Ports reserves played United Services Portsmouth in their first game of the 2017/18 season in the Wyvern Combination Football League (East) suffering a defeat however today saw this turned around with a 1:0 victory. Harrison Taylor got the only goal of the game for The Port.

Newport A played a home fixture against Ryde Saints in the IW Saturday Div 2/Combination League Cup. Goals from player manager Nick Richardson, Josh Richardson and Tony Potts secured a well deserved 3:2 victory and a great start to their league cup campaign.

The Ports Saturday was made extra special with Newport IW FC U12’s managed by Wayne Knight securing top spot and concluded their Mid Solent League season as league winners. This was the U12’s first season in the Mid Solent League and what an impressive start it was.

The U12’s youth players along with managers, coaching staff and parents travel to the mainland frequently on a Saturday to compete in the Mid Solent League. Their dedication and commitment to Newport IW FC is outstanding demonstrating the quality and professionalism of Newport’s youth section.
