The Port travelled to Amesbury Town FC today (Sat 25th March) and it was a game of penalties with Newport taking full advantage to take all 3 points.
Amesbury took the lead on 13 minutes with Newport conceding a penalty. 1:0 and The Port were on the back foot early on.
Newport were then awarded a penalty with Connor Kelly adding to his goal tally and bringing the game back level at 1:1.
It wasn’t long before Newport conceded another penalty which Amesbury safely netted to re-take the lead 2:1.
The game was turning out to be a penalty shoot out competition but Newport took advantage on 65 minutes with Liam Triggs getting an equaliser.
Only 10 minutes later The Port got the winner with Joe Butcher finding the net. Newport then saw the game out claiming all 3 points.
Newport move into 12th in the Sydenhams Wessex Football League Premier Division as they face AFC Porchester on Wednesday 29th March at St Georges Park for a 7:30pm kick off.
