St Georges Park will host newly promoted League 1 club Portsmouth FC in a 10 year anniversary pre-season friendly on Tuesday 18th July for a 7pm kick off.
Newport IW FC’s first team will be given the honour to play Portsmouth FC XI in what will be a spectacular game for the club and provide many Portsmouth FC fans on the Isle of Wight the opportunity to see their stars in action.
Newport IW FC played Portsmouth FC in the summer of 2007 in a pre-season friendly which saw a record attendance at St Georges Park of 3,112.
Chairman Stuart Ross said “I am delighted to announce this pre-season fixture with Portsmouth FC on July 18th. This will be a memorable day for Newport FC and we look forward to hosting such a huge club like Portsmouth FC in our last season at St Georges Park. I would like to thank Portsmouth FC’s CEO Mark Catlin, manager Kenny Jacket and their clubs back room staff for securing this pre-season game with us. This will be an exciting day for football here on the Isle of Wight.”
