For a friendly that ended in a 0-0 draw this was an excellent game to watch. In fact at several times it was far from friendly.
The opening exchanges were fairly even with good chances for both teams number 9’s Charlie Urry and Ryan Pennery but each time defences came out on top.
Mark Taylor hit an excellent shot from distance that went narrowly wide and at the other end Gary Streeter had to be alert to push a shot around the post. Mark Taylor hit an excellent chip over the Moneyfields keeper but also narrowly over the bar. Ryan Pennery looked to have scored as Gary Streeter could only get a hand to it but Spike Pearce was alert to clear it off the line.

Gary Streeter was called into action early tipping a shop from substitute Cash Kamara just over the bar.
The game became a little niggly in the second half as players were feeling the heat and several players from each side went into the referees notebook.
Newport’s front pairing of Charlie Urry and Emerson Tattersall looked lively all afternoon, working together well and if they can find their shooting boots they will be a handful for any defence in the Wessex League.
Newport’s new back line of three centre backs has worked well in both games against Moneyfield and Havant and Waterlooville and looks promising.
