Newport recovered from being two nil down after half an hour to beat Bemerton Heath Harlequins 4-2 and register their first home league win of the season.
Newport included Connor Kelly, who has recently re-signed from Sholing, in their starting line up as Josh Younie was on the substitutes bench along with Darren Powell who was replaced by Martin McDonough.
Newport kicked off attacking the Allotment end and in the first minute Emerson Tattersall managed to get in a shot but it was straight at Lewis Watch.
It was Bemerton who took the lead on eight minutes from a corner on the right. Scott Hassell raced into the goal area and headed in from close range.
After a period of Newport pressure when they created a few chance without seriously testing Lewis Watch, Bemerton had a chance to increase the lead but a close range header from Harry Prisk was well saved by Gary Streeter..
Bemerton Heath increase the lead on 28 minute, following a needless trip by Emerson Tattersall. Jamie Waters penalty low to Gary Streeter’s right was well save by the keeper but the Bemerton player reacted first to the rebound to bundle the ball into the net.
The game swung Newport’s way with three goals in five minutes just prior to half time.
From a free kick, the Bemerton defence failed to clear the ball and in the melee, Jared Wetherick blasted it into the net from close range. Shortly afterwards the ball broke to Emerson Tattersall in the penalty area and he was able to drive in a low shot into the corner of the net. Then Connor Kelly marked his return by running on to a defence splitting pass before slotting the ball past Lewis Watch.

Newport started the second half looking lively and both Jared Wetherick and Emerson Tattersall went close before Emerson Tattersall scored the fourth squeezing the ball in by the post in the 55th minute.as the Bemerton defence failed to clear a free kick.
Newport made a substitution bringing on Josh Younie for Connor Kelly then five minutes later Darren Powell came on for Emerson Tattersall. Finally with 15 minutes remaining Jared Wetherick gave way to Lewis Wright.
The fourth goal deflated Bemerton as Newport gained superiority and with a two goal advantage were able to see out the final minutes without any scares to move up two places to seventeenth.
