The Port who sat 18th in the league were defeated 3:1 by 17th place Bashley FC this afternoon in a Premier Division League fixture.
Newport without players through suspensions, unavailability and injuries cost them a vitally needed 3 points going into a tough fixture on Tuesday against top of the table contenders Horndean.
Charlie Urry opened the scoring for Newport but it wasn’t enough going into half time with Bashley levelling the score at 1:1 just before the break.

With Bashley FC needing a home victory and the 3 points saw them net a further 2 goals in the second half and a keeper change for The Port as Gary Streeter was injured being replaced by Martin McDonough.
Newport were unable to claw back the two goals with the game ending Bashley FC 3, Newport IW FC 1.
This was the second consecutive league defeat for Newport in a week where they face Horndean FC on Tuesday evening (10th Oct) at St Georges Park for a 7:30pm Ko.
