The Port travel to East Dorset on Saturday as our FA Cup adventure continues into the Preliminary Round.
Wimborne Town sit three leagues above Newport in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier (South) and are hot favourites to end the Port’s progress, but this is the FA Cup and bigger shocks have happened.
Newport are currently undefeated in competitive matches this season and each game has seen progress for the young side although obviously not against sides playing at the level of the Magpies.
Wimborne however have struggled to get going but did get their first league win of the season last Saturday beating Harrow Borough 5-3.
The match takes place at The Cuthbury, where the Port have visited many times before taking on the notoriously sloping pitch and often coming away with a victory. My last visit here was 2009 when Sam Dye hit a screamer into the top corner to give us victory.
The club is running a coach from Lymington, there are a few seats left. In order to get the coach you must be on the 1205 Wightlink sailing from Yarmouth.
