On Monday evening the Supporters Trust held an extraordinary General Meeting and Paul Spreadbury was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Supporters Trust, Tony Wake remains Chairman of Newport FC. Paul is the owner of Pit Stop motorcycle training which hires the club’s car park for his business. Paul has sponsored a reserve team kit for a couple of years and last year bought a new engine for the main pitch lawnmower. He has grown attached to the club and wants to play a part in it’s future.
Sadly I have to inform you that our Reserve Team have withdrawn from the Island League Division 1. A series of events led players to leave for other clubs. We withdrew our A team from the combination league in an effort to keep the reserves going however this has proved unsuccessful and we were unable to field a side last Saturday. We shall use the next few months to get a more stable set up in place that will allow our junior teams to participate successfully next season in whatever league we enter.
This Saturday is National Non League day and the Port are at home to Ringwood Town. National Non League day always coincides with a break in Premier League football and whilst International matches take part. It is designed to raise awareness of grass roots football and also aims to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. Every 45 minutes a man dies somewhere from Prostate Cancer.
On Saturday Newport Football will offer free admission to their match against Ringwood Town to any of the following groups;
Members of the Armed Services
Members of the Emergency Services
Employees of the NHS
Instead of paying admission to enter the ground, all these people have to do is show their workplace ID such as badge, warrant card, id card. etc.
In addition the club will be having a donation collection for Prostate Cancer UK.
