Newport FC Pre-season training started on Tuesday 18th June on the pitch at St. George’s Park.

There will be some warm up games with first team v reserves prior to official friendlies.

It’s not too late to join in however and we welcome players old and new who are interested in joining the club. Whoever you are you will be given a warm welcome.

Our first pre-season friendly is Tuesday 9th July so don’t leave it too late to start getting fit again !

Clean Up day at East Cowes Vics

East Cowes Vics are having a clean up day at Beatrice Avenue on Saturday from 8.30 in the morning.

A few Newport volunteers are coming along to lend a hand so anyone else who is able to spare some time will be made most welcome.

Under 17’s win Mid Solent Cup Final after sensational comeback

Newport Under 17s won the Mid Solent Junior B cup today, beating Havant & Waterlooville 5-4 on Penalties after the game finished 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Newport found themselves 2-0 down at half time, but came out stronger in the 2nd half and pulled a goal back by substitute Adrian Voigt midway through the half, but with 3 minutes remaining found an equaliser through Harry Cheek after a scramble in the 6 yard box forced the game into a penalty shootout.

In the shootout goalkeeper Fraser Law saved one and Havant missed one, meaning that Harry Cheek had to score to win the cup for Newport and he calmly placed his effort into the corner, to win the penalty shootout 5-4.

Tony Hunt appointed Club President

Tony Hunt has accepted the role of Club President of Newport FC.

A life Vice President, Tony is a former Chairman of Newport FC and takes up the post that has been unfilled since the passing of the late Keith Lacey.

In addition Mike West and Bob Foad have become life Vice Presidents of the club.
