Both Newport adult teams enjoyed a sunny afternoon at Brading Town on Saturday and both managed to win their friendly matches.
The first team played at 1300 and won 5-2, the goals coming from Charlie Urry 2, Connor Kelly , Jordan Browne and Joe Craig. The Brading scorers were Ollie Wilson and Harris Payne, both former Newport players. The match was played in a great spirit and both teams had plenty to take forward into the season ahead.
The reserves won their game 2-0 and both goals were scored by Jayden Yates.
There were good performances all round and it’s reassuring for Andy Sampson to know that we have a reserve side that play the same passing game of football that the first team are playing. The reserves are mainly 16 year olds and have only had four games in mens football so far but with several friendlies still for them to come they will be ready for the start of their campaign. As we have seen with the first team, young players can be brought in and perform when given their chance and all bodes well for the future.
