It’s Saturday and there is no rain expected, which is a bonus after the weather we have had in recent weeks.
Newport Reserves have already had a pitch inspection and their Hampshire Vase match against Mayflower is ON at Northwood Rec with a 1.00pm kick off. If you are quick you might be able to take in most of their match(unless it goes to extra time) and still see most of the first team game.
Newport first team take on Folland Sports in the Sydenhams Div 1 at Beatrice Avenue with a 3.00pm kick off. The Planemakers started the season with two wins but since then they haven’t registered another win in fifteen games. They have however scored in four of their last five games, so if anything is to be learnt from last weeks defeat at New Milton, it is that if you don’t score you won’t win and you will most probably lose to an unexpected late winner.
Follands made a number of well known signings at the start of the season including Kevin Brewster who played many seasons for Sholing FC. Newport themselves have made some signings in the last ten days including George Colson formerly of Salisbury and Ryan Oatley of Blackfield & Langley. Both players have been playing this season for Island League side Brading Town. Both players will remain on Island League forms for the Romans .
The Groundsman has gone in early at Beatrice Aveue this morning and the pitch is good to go.
