Andy Sampson had a full squad to choose from and stuck to the same starting eleven and line up that had produced such a fine performance the previous week at Alton. Welcomed back on the bench were Mark Taylor, Harrison Yates and Alex Ram.
The match kicked off with Newport playing into a stiff chilly South Westerly wind but like the previous week they got off to a flyer. in the 4th minute Ryan Hughes went on a twisting run, put the ball through to Jordan Browne who just managed to squeeze it past the New Milton keeper and into the net. 1-0.
If Rob Beck in the New Milton goal hadn’t already worked out he was in for a busy afternoon, he had by the 10th minute when a good move between Jordan Browne and Connor Kelly resulted in a shot from the latter which brought out a good save from the keeper.
On 18 minutes Newport were forced into an early chance when Jared Cousins took a knock on an old injury and was forced off. Joe Craig came on as a direct replacement.
Newport were to increase their lead on 26 minutes when Lewis Wright gathered a rebound on the edge of the box and curled the ball around the keeper and into the net. 2-0.
Ten minutes later Joe Craig dribbled through a packed penalty area and drive the ball into the net. 3-0.
Newport were straight back on the attack, Ryan Hughes seeing a lot of the ball down the right hand side fired the ball across the box just missing the outstretched leg of Connor Kelly. Just before half time Newport were to make it 4-0. Scott Sampson got on the end of a loose ball in the box and headed over the keeper and into the net.
