Striker George Holmes returns looking to re-stablish himself in the first team squad. George had a bad injury last season and was restricted to 7 appearances. We wish George all the best for the season ahead.
Flying winger / striker Jared Cousins re-signs for another season at the Port. Last season his appearances were restricted by injuries but he still made 10 starts and scored 3 goals. Hopefully he will get more opportunities to use his pace, creating and scoring more goals.
Left Back extraordinaire, Neo Lamb returns to score some more amazing goals. This boy doesn’t do ordinary, only left foot 30 yard volleys will do. Scored 4 goals last season from 23 starts, not a bad return for a “defender”.
Joe Craig remains a Newport player for the season ahead. The tall rangy striker/winger was amongst the goals with 11 from 21 appearances. Always a threat either on the ground or in the air he will be another essential component of Andy Sampson’s strike threat.
Central defender Scott Sampson is back for another season at the Port. Scott is a strong experienced defender and a previous winner of the Wessex League with Blackfield & Langley. Last season Scott scored 5 goals from 18 matches.
Liam Triggs signs for another season. Former Pompey trainee is extremely versatile and can play in many positions from left back through to centre forward. His appearances were limited last season due to work committments however he still managed 3 goals from 16 appearances.
Last season was a breakthrough one for Jacob Reynolds moving into a midfield role and playing in all 10 matches of the unbeaten run. Overall Jacob featured in 24 matches and scoring 4 goals along the way. Jacob has signed for the season ahead.
Last season’s top scorer Connor Kelly has signed for another season at the Port. The flying winger/striker scored a fantastic 23 goals from 28 starts last season and will no doubt be keen to try and beat that this year.
Long serving keeper Gary Streeter is coming back next season for another crack at the Wessex 1 title. Last season Gary gave some of his best appearances for years including an outstanding Man of the Match display away at Alton.
Harrison Yates has signed for his fourth season at Newport since progressing through the Youth system. The young midfielder has had to be patient and take his opportunity when it comes along but he has also been a mainstay in our reserve side.
Scott Barron returns for a third season with the Port. The young central defender hasnt stopped growing since he joined the club and now has over 50 appearances in the Wessex league. The quietest player in the squad he saves his talking for on the pitch.
Attacking midfielder Mark Taylor has put pen to paper and signed for Newport for the 20/21 season. A regular for the past five seasons the enigmatic midfielder will be making life difficult for opposition defences in the coming months.
Committed defender Spike Pearce is back for more in the coming season. Spike has racked up over 150 Wessex appearances in the last five seasons and pops up with the occasional goal.
Consistent striker Jordan Browne has resigned for the coming season. Jordan scored 14 Wessex goals in the previous season before it was cut short and was on target to beat the 16 he scored the season before.
Flying full back Ryan Hughes signs on for his third season with the club. With 49 Wessex appearances to his name over the past two seasons and a previous winner of Supporters Player of the Year, a player with great maturity for his age, certainly one to watch this season.
Jake Wright signs on for his second season in Adult football. The teenager made 27 Wessex League appearances in his first season and will be looking to push on after his second pre-season.
Skipper Martin McDonough returns for another season. The experienced defender / midfielder is keen to get back on the pitch and get things moving again.
We welcome back Joe Butcher who previous played for the Port up to 2016/17 in our Wessex Premier days, before moving on to win a Wessex Premier Winners medal at Blackfield and Langley.
Joe previously at East Cowes Vics, completed a transfer to us in March but unfortunately the season was voided before he could play.
