Back in the Game !

On Friday the Football Association announced dates for the recommencement of competitive football.

Clubs can now begin competitive training with up to 30 people (including coaches) when they have completed a risk assessment and are confident of proceeding safely.

From 1st August 2020, Friendly matches can commence although there is not yet clearance for spectators to attend.

5th September 2020 has been set as the target date for the return of League football at Sydenhams Wessex level.

We are pleased to say that we have reached agreement with our good neighbours East Cowes Vics, for our first team to play home matches at Beatrice Avenue for the coming season. They have invested substantially in their pitch this season and it is looking exceptionally good.

As a goodwill gesture for our supporters this season we aim to run a coach from the Island for each first team away match at minimal cost. (Subject to social distancing limits).

We are also pleased to confirm that our reserves have been admitted to the Hampshire Combination and Development League (West) and will play their home fixtures at Cowes Enterprise College’s 3g pitch. Our reserve team players are now available for sponsorship at £20 for the season or 2 players for £35. A full list will be available before the season starts.

The FA Cup starts Tuesday 1st September – we have entered but not guaranteed a place.

The FA Vase starts Saturday 19th September.

The FA have submitted plans to the Dept for Culture , Media and Sport, regarding the admittance of spectators at matches and these are currently awaiting approval.

Both teams have agreed a series of friendlies, subject to Hampshire FA sanctioning them. At present these will have to be played without spectators attending however it is hoped this will be changed in the coming weeks.
